2012 Building Trades Political Endorsements

In most years, the Indiana State Building and Construction Trades Council has chosen not to do political endorsements. Historically, this has been done to allow individual locals and councils to work with their local candidates, regardless of party, to further the causes of our collective membership. However, given the historic legislative battles of the past two years, the council felt compelled to recognize those that stood with the Building Trades with formal endorsements...Read more.

I have never publicly endorsed nor supported a candidate for election to any state office so my writing of this letter is very much out of character. When I was informed that Mike Karickhoff was running for the office of State Representative, District 30, I decided that I could not remain silent on his many merits as a Kokomo City Councilmen which more than qualify him for the office of State Representative...Read more.

I love being a Hoosier and so do my five kids. I have loved raising then in Indiana and I want them to have the same opportunity with their families. In order for that to be a reasonable option for them, we must have strong leadership at the state level; leaders who can provide the right environment to attract and retain good jobs and a high quality of life...Read more.

Among them, Mike was Superintendent of the Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department while I was President of the Parks and Recreation Department Board. We also worked together for 4 years while serving on the Kokomo City Council together...Read more.

Although as a voter, I believe I am an independent, my voting record indicates that I am a Democrat at heart. So this letter runs “against the grain” for me. I do not usually write letters of endorsement and have never written a letter for a Republican candidate for any office….until now. I am making an exception for Mike Karickhoff...Read more.

The citizens of Indiana will once again have the opportunity to participate in the most important right an American citizen has – their right to vote. And come the first Tuesday in May, I hope you join me in voting for Mike Karickhoff for State Representative to represent Indiana’s District 30. The state of Indiana – in fact the entire nation – is in need of solid leaders who serve their constituents with heart, integrity and an understanding of how to be fiscally responsible. Our nation and state face many challenges today. The economy, unemployment, crime, failing infrastructure, health care, education, and energy issues are just a few of the problems we Hoosiers face. It didn’t take long for me to think of that short list of issues, and certainly there are many other pressing issues. We are facing the most difficult times that I can remember. In the very near future, we, the voters of District 30, will have some very important decisions to make. The future of our state is in the hands of our legislators. With the state of our economy and the resulting loss of revenue, the decisions made governing the direction our state will take needs to be in the hands of reliable, ethical leaders who will do what is best for our state as opposed to what is best for a particular political party or group. To put it very simply, we need statesmen in leadership positions...Read more.

I've just received your attack mailer on Mike Karickhoff. I've heard you are a Christian man; that's something I look for in a

Friends and Neighbors, It is rare for me to become involved politically, however we have a candidate that wants to represent western Grant County that I have known for decades. Mike Karickhoff is my friend and I hope he'll be our next State Representative for western Grant County. He is a Christian man with conservative values, and also a hardworking family man.

Friends and Neighbors

It is rare for me to become involved politically, however we have a candidate that wants to represent western Grant County that I have known for decades. Mike Karickhoff is my friend and I hope he'll be our next State Representative for western Grant County. He is a Christian man with conservative values, and also a hardworking family man.

I know this because I met Mike in the mid-eighties when we both played recreational basketball. Our interest in basketball and our friendship allowed us to become teammates on many city league and Gus Macker traveling teams. We have traveled across Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois competing together. You get to know a person's work ethic, values, and personality when you commit as teammates in three different decades.

Time and distance have prevented us from competing together in recent years. Our age and family commitments have stopped our basketball but not our friendship. When I learned Mike may represent our area I was excited to give him my support.

I always knew Mike was involved in Kokomo City government and know he's taken that experience to the State House to help residents in district 30. Please join me in supporting Mike Karickhoff.

Sincerely,

Perry Frank
